Job Description: To construct a new 12 man Recompression Chamber facility and new Medical Assessment Unit with 11 Bay ward and Exam rooms and 5 single rooms at UHG.
The new build was carried out in the undercroft to a 3 storey coronary care unit and wards and also required the replacement of the existing link corridor between the Clinical Sciences Building and the main Hospital Block. During construction all adjacent departments functioned with minimum disruption. The focus on infection control and maintenance of medical gases was paramount. Large scale temporary works were carried out to facilitate pedestrian traffic to and from the Clinical Science Building.
