Carey Building Contractors have successfully completed many Public Works projects over the years. This includes hospitals, healthcare, educational, residential, and public buildings for various public bodies, which have all been delivered using the Public Works Contract Forms.
In 2024, the Office of Government Procurement introduced the BIM Mandate, with the aim of standardizing digital construction practices across the public sector. The Mandate aims to improve processes, increase productivity and quality, and provide consistency. The Mandate is relevant for projects delivered under the Capital Works Management Framework with phased adoption timelines based upon Contract values.
As described by ‘BuildDigital,’ (a government-backed initiative focused on digitally transforming Ireland’s construction sector), ISO 19650 is a cornerstone of the Mandate. ISO 19650 is an international series of standards that guide information management over the life cycle of a built asset using BIM. ISO 19650 sets out the principles and requirements for information management, delivery, and collaboration. It covers both capital/delivery (Parts 1 and 2) and operational phases (Parts 3 and 5) of a project.
As a Main Contractor, Careys are responsible for the delivery of the built asset (Part 2) and are pivotal in ensuring that the end-user has the information they require to operate the asset upon delivery. Achieving accreditation in ISO 19650:2 is a vital milestone for our Company. Accreditation recognises our competencies, capabilities, and compliance with the Mandate.
We are delighted that the commitment and effort invested by our team has been recognised through the achievement of this accreditation. and we are dedicated to collaborating with our clients to ensure their projects are delivered in full compliance with the Mandate.
