Galway County Council has announced that, following a tendering process, Carey Building Contractors has been awarded the Tender to build a new day centre and homeless accommodation in Galway City. This vital service for homeless men and women in Galway is part of the Galway City Council Housing For All Action Plan.
The redevelopment involves the demolition of the current Teach Corrib Day Centre in Westside, and the construction of a new energy-efficient, modern facility that will provide enhanced Day Centre services and 10 interchangeable units for Temporary Emergency Homeless Accommodation. The new facilities will be run by COPE Galway.
Construction will commence in Q3 2025 and the new centre is expected to open in Q1 2027
